Finally the LP - took me a while to record as I haven't had much time of late - I had to play these tunes at a party, and did so at a mates 30th about a month or so ago. I started this set at about 2:00am.
I couldn't steer too far away from those house sounds that I love (it's epic to begin with), but managed to throw in some nice deep house, and tech minimal goodness. This is as tech/minimal as I get, so for all the tech heads out there.. I hope you enjoy the sounds

One day i hope to be able to mix like you dude, and to tell the truth some of these tracks didn't really tickle my fancy but your perfect beatmatching, together with the way that this set progressed, the tension and release that you created, made this set better than sum of all its tracks (to quote qtek).
Awesome stuff

As I mentioned previously on the Techtonic mix, you've certainly contriubted to my creativity of late.
I'm a pure house dj. So getting into tech sounds has taken me out of my comfort zone, so I'm excited by your comments (not that I'll be sticking to the techno house sounds or anything).
Apart from the 1st track in this mix (which I wanted to include here just because it is different), I played pretty much all the other tracks in front of about 100 people in a small underground club room. It was a sweat box by the end.
I appreciate my taste in undergound music is not everyone's fancy, but people know that I'm not going to play commercial house.
Good dj's mix music, great dj's are remembered for it.
You're there dude in the hall of fame!

And the more you put in the more you get out. Wish i was 1 out of that 100 sweating it up on that d- floor.

This was put together very, very well J-C ... I like, I like, I like! The continuity and mixing between each track was spot on. I too hope to achieve this level of ease one day ..
I dug the first half the most. Some fancy techy tracks that helped manoeuvre my codpiece
I probably would have kept the tech going into some more funkier bass lines rather than the trancier/prog tuunes. But I definatley got the gist of where you were coming from. This mix has got you all over it.
Well done!

Why thank you Ryan for your comments, always appreciated. And for a 5 star rating, I'm really glad this mix made an impact!
It was a thrill to play this out in a club, to get a buzz off the crowd with some of the tracks dropping in was really cool. There was some dirty dancing at going on (and some sloppy dancing too)- but the fact that you were manoeuvring your codpiece? Well that just makes me blush...
I'm not sure I'll delve into the tech stuff again, so this is a limited foray for me, but I know I can count on others to provide me with a refreshing tech bite, should that be required. Its back to deep driving house for me...

Wow! Great stuff again, JC.
The opening track reminds me of Cass & Slide's "Opera". Excellent choice.
Good selection of vocals. What is the 2nd track (vocal is kinda Bowie/Icehouse style)?
As always your mixing is smooth as butter, and the whole mix progresses with clear direction. Loved the inclusion of an old-school piano riff on the closer.
As others have already commented... your skills are top-notch!

Thanks mdma, glad you enjoyed the sounds... Yeah I liked putting together the epic beginning before getting into the more techy/minimal sounds, the first three tracks reminds me of the BIG Room vibe that only the Boiler Room seems to replicate - Love it!
I'll post a tracklist shortly...

Hey Kimba, thanks for your lovely words, I did have a great weekend thank you!
Keep practicing, and if you are committed enough you will produce awesome sets time and time again.
Additionally, what has really helped me gain a better understanding and appreciation for the electronic music scene was radio broadcasting. I started off as a panel operator for a few years on 2MBS, and 2SER in the late 90s, as I was keen to learn about radio. It wasn't a quick transition for me to presenting, but when it happened it was worth it. 2001-02 I did a Tuesday night show on 2SER (Housesounds) - 2 hours a week on the latest house music from here and around the world, and in 2004-05 I did an all Australian Dance Music show ONAir in conjuction with 3DWorld on Pulseradio.net (beaming out to the world). OnAir taught me a whole lot more about the Australian Dance Music industry, and the Independent record labels within it, along with of course the artists/producers/Djs.
I highly recommend this outlet for anyone who is committed and passionate enough - you will learn alot and you will meet alot of people who may end up influencing your musical styles and preferences - but ultimately you will take even more pride in representing the artists music when you choose to promote them in your dj sets. I may post an old ONAir broadcast soon to give you a taste of the show I created each week promoting the Aussie dance scene...
I was thinking about going back to radio again with the emergence of FBi 94.5FM (in Sydney) - but unfortunately don't have the time these days to commit the time required.

Thanks fishn, it's great to hear from you again! You've certainly contributed to some Tech House creativity on my part, glad I lived up to the standard that has been set
I've already had your Perpetual Motion mix cranking on my speakers - love the work you've done on some of the tracks, especially some of the tracks I have recently played - deep side of the moog, etc... awesome stuff! Would you believe you've still been getting alot of praise on here in your absence, almost from a dj educational point of view on how to layer and mix with style.
Cheers again for the listen and comment, next mix will be more housey from me.

After having a good listen to this set I can better understand what yourself and fishn were pointing out. I noticed you had an interesting opening track and that you built and released tension throughout. You also used a wide range of sub-genres in your set to keep the listener guessing.
I gotta admit i'm not a big fan of a lot of those tracks, although the way it was mixed and flowed made it quite memorable for me

Nice one Jay, thanks for your ears and your comments.
The subtle progression every 3-4 tracks to a new genre, or shade of dark/light was necessary as the tension was there in almost every track, so building it up and then releasing was the plan - I'm glad you felt this throughout.
the fact you enjoyed the music that you wouldn't have normally mixed, means my job here was done well!
Thanks again

This is inspiring stuff J-C...
Really loved the mix.
A lot of the tracks selected had a very 'dark' feeling about them, and from beginning to end it felt like you were taking us all on a trip. There were some really good highs and some great lows to it. And you finished off nicely with a feelgood number. Nice.
I can't fault your beatmixing, as always... and would go as far as to say you've almost mastered the art of cue points (almost, because once or maybe twice I heard a kickline extend a little too far before the next track faded in - this is such a minor grievance though mate).
4 stars for the quality and 1 star for the mix being longer than 40 minutes, or a third of an entire set.
I loved it overall. You make me wanna just keep mixing.

Thanks for the listen, comments, and rating Black Sheep -
I've always strived to produce mixes which are absorbing - This genre (tech) is not my personal fav, so I'm glad that this mix was able to grab your attention. Though if you prefer your house on the deeper and more twisted side then that is what I am truly about (see my GU2 mix), I will also yupload my Danny Tenaglia tribute mix again (classic driving prog / tribal house), as the king of the djs is in town this month!
Ps: I have been known to hit the funk dial occassionally!
