TUNE 2
Ok, heres a new one I've been working for a little while. Sticking with the theme it doesn't have a name. I'm not sure if I'll keep the vocal in it. A friend listened to a much earlier version and said he wanted it to sound fatter or something to happen after the breakdown. I thought it was ok but the vocal is my compromise. I'd be grateful for any feedback as I've used a lot of new tricks/techniques on this one. Someone commented on my last tune that I should use a better qaulity mp3. I use audacity and it automatically converts the mp3 like this. Can anyone advise me of another program that I could use to convert to 320kb mp3? thanks

epic. nice builds, dropoffs, rythym sections, flow. true to techno but still sounds fresh and techy. absolutely love it man keep em comin. kick sounded a little ferocious in the beginning but seemed ok when everything else kicked in. (disclaimer - i am a personal friend of jims and if he had posted something shit I would have told him that too

well thought arrangement and nice progression
all the elements in this one compliment each other well.
I would have to agree with you about the vocal it does not sit to well.
Try Goldwave for converting your mp3s
its a free program that i have been using for a while.

thanks. Yeh might just take
thanks. Yeh might just take the vocal out. I've basically remixed and mastered the track since feeling the need for that extra something. Think its got enough drive in the tune to not need the vocal.

The arrangement overall is pretty good, i like the flow of the bassline growing with the little house synth after the big synth breakdown around 3:30.
There doesn't seem to be much bass in your kick though? 128kbit MP3 might be masking the low end a bit.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've made quite a few a few changes following peoples tips. I've toned down the kick just a touch so theres a bit more lo in the kick now. EQ'ed the bassline so it's a bit better now. I tired to take the vocal out but then I missed it so decided after some advice form emc to keep the first part in and then try and change it round a bt for the second phase and use some effects etc. Also I worked out how to make it 320kb MP3 so will get a newer version available somewhere soon

I just had this tune (TUNE 2) mastered by Danny Bonnici from Dj Warehouse/Liquidmixes. For those of you interested in the final result, have a listen to the tune on here, then check out the link below to the full quality and mastered version. I'm happy that he's acheived the professional touch that i was looking for. TUNE 2, to be appearing at Chinese Laundry between 10:30-11:30 Saturday 8th May. If you're in Sydney come and check out Luke J Warren's debut at Chinese Laundry, its gonna be wicked!!!!!

LOL fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion. I definatly wouldn't think it's cheesy (wait till you hear my next one, that'll be cheesy). So not admiting that it is cheesy but.... techno can be cheesy. Take Gui Boratto - No Turning Back, thats classed as techno (according to some record labels) and I'd say that was pretty cheesy. Anyways I'll shut up now otherwise it'll look like you've hit a nerve, and you haven't, honest

The mastered version sounds very good. Will definately find a place for this in my sets. Genre schmonre, but cheese 'to me' suggests a lack of integrity and I can't feel that coming from the track personally Dan. Its good to see hardliners out there on the cheese patrol front though man keep it real.

Wicked tune man!
I definitely wouldn't call this cheesy - maybe friendly is the right word? I didn't hear the earlier versions but as it sits right now, the vocal sits just nicely. Nice bounce and swing throughout.
Do plan on trying to get this one released?

Cheers bro, did you listen to the version on mediafire? thats the finished version. The mp3 on Undiscovererd is an earlier version. Yeh I have thought about getting it released but wouldn't really know where to start, any ideas?

No I listened to the Undiscovered one so thats even more impressive that theres an improved version out there!
As for getting it released, there is a guy who used to be a regular contributor on here called Mike Indigo. He has his own recored label and I reckon your sound would suit his label nicely. Heres a link to his facebook page,

(I wish I knew how to code the link into a word so it didn't look so ugly!). You should get in touch, could be worth both your whiles.
I'll have to check out the mastered version shortly.

Hey mate, good structure and use of sounds. I think the sound quality is fine despite what you have been told previously. Im not a huge house fan but Im really diggin the perc layers. Kick does get lost over the bass a wee bit but not enough to re record. Vocal works I think. Keep it up bro
