The First REAL Australian Music Festival is still number One in my book. \
I've done 4 BDOs, and all have been MASSIVE!!!
remarked
i like parklife the best
one reason being that the brisbane botanical gardens is an ideal venue.
and the other reason is the atmosphere there is just awsome
i find summa field dayze is full of posers
and its always wet and there is no shade on the spit at alll.
im going to my first bdo next year never been at all.

It has to be BDO for me.
Im a rock/metal pig as well as loving electronic sounds and BDO covers both.
Ive been to 10, including the first one( yes i am an old prick!) with Nirvana.
Ive had some epic times and seen some great perfomances at these BDO'S including Underword twice, Roni Size, Fat Boy Slim, Soulfly, Luke Slater, Kraftwerk, Qotsa, Korn, Carl Cox(when he still played tekno)
Soundgarden, RATM- who killed it on the first tour!!! and the mighty headcaving, body crushing Ministry.
Plus a heap i cant remember right now.
A real highlight was when they had Fear Factory cranking their, industrial, techno metal on before The Prodigy, a great double header!!
Ive had fun at Parklife before, the year Derick Carter played was good but they focus on electro house/rock to much for me now.
Ive been to one Summerfield Day when i scored free tickets, never again!!!

Definitely BDO for me, as I'm a huge fan of other styles of music too.
Although I was surprised you didn't include Godskitchen or Gatecrasher on the list (or did you include Futuremusic to represent these two?). I have memories from Gatecrasher festivals back in the late 90s / early 2000s that will never die... particularly seeing Way Out West, John 00 Fleming, Mauro Picotto, PVD, BT and many many more.
In saying that, some of the best DAYS I've ever had have been at BDO... I'll always remember Franz Ferdinand, the Dandy Warhols, Jet, Peaches, John Butler Trio, Iggy Pop with The Stooges (that man is a fucking god), Carl Cox (with you there Baax), Infusion, the Chemical Brothers...
But NONE of those performances even came close to BASEMENT JAXX. The first year I saw them, they played live as a 9-piece band and had about 10 different singers on and off the stage, and included an X rated video sequence throughout the set. AND they finished up with my favorite tune of theirs, Jump n Shout, which played live is just unbelievable.
Thanks for posting this poll J-C... you've brought back a lot of great memories, and made me want more!!

You really missed out Baax.
You really missed out Baax. It was crazy. However, BJ have just released another single, haven't they? Maybe a tour is on the cards?? BDO 2010..?

Field day is the best cause it's the 1st day of the year, in a fabulous place (the domain), the sound is great and lineup always good. How can you beat that ?
The worst I have been, two times : future music festival, the sound is ALWAYS shit. You need to be next to the stage to hear something decent, and then it blows your hears. I remember for Chemical brothers, so many people, impossible to come close to the stage, and so there was only sub bass and kick drum coming to us...
I didn't see global gathering in the poll, I though it was excellent.

i think last years stereosonic festival in brisbane was brilliant. there would have only been about 8000 people there so it felt really intimate (for a festival) you could actually get close to the stage and still have dancing room. plus i met one of my best mates there aswell. Pnau and Midnight Jugganaughts went OFF!!! wasnt too impressed with Carl Cox though.
BDO was good until they started letting in about a billion people. and i do like summafield dayze however i agree with whoever said it before, they need more shade at the spit.
