"WBALLS - TECH FUNK::BREAKS"

Will Calvert
Male 30 years old
Hobart
Australia

bio

Will Calvert (aka WBalls) was thrust onto the Hobart dance music scene in late 2001 playing funky, deep house tunes at various bars and parties, but it was not until the now legendary 'BOOMBOX' parties broke out that he began playing what was then a new genre to him - breakbeat. Since then his twisted deep tech breaks/electro sets have seen him supporting the likes of Krafty Kuts, Soul Of Man, Lee Burridge, Dave Clarke, Freq Nasty, Meat Katie, Elite Force, Lee Coombs, Deekline & Wizard, The Stanton Warriors, Klaus ‘Heavyweight’ Hill, Skool Of Thought, Rennie Pilgrim, Smithmonger, Phil K, Adam Freeland, Infusion, Tayo and the list goes on. Described by Meat Katie as the most impressive support DJ on his last Australian tour; WBalls has been a strong advocate of the tech-funk sound and continues to warm up dance floors around Hobart for many of the visiting UK and interstate headliners.

His residency at Hobart’s infamous "Halo" club has kept him busy for the last few years (as well as playing at Syrup, Mobius, Mint, and the Metz on occasion) feeding tech funk, breaks, electro and house to whoever will listen. He is also involved with the emerging Title Fight Recording’s label (run by mate Klaus Hill), and designed and runs the digitalthugz.com ezine, which is a popular destination for Tassie’s online DnB, hip hop, and dance community.
